9.9 Spacer Flange
A damaged spacer flange can result
in engine running problems.
– Troubleshooting, b 3.5
– Remove the carburetor, b 9.5
: Take out the screws (arrows).
– Remove the spacer flange (1).
: Remove the gasket (1).

– Inspect the spacer flange (1) and
replace it if necessary – even
very minor damage can result in
engine running problems, b 3.5
Installing
: Check and clean the sealing
faces (arrows) on the cylinder
and spacer flange, b 13
The sealing faces must be clean
and in perfect condition.
Always replace components with
damaged sealing faces.

: Fit the new gasket (1) over the
guide (arrows) on the spacer
flange.
: Position the spacer flange (1)
with gasket against the cylinder
intake port so the guide engages
the opening (arrow).
: Fit the screws (arrows).
– Check that gasket is properly
seated.
– Insert the screws and tighten
them down firmly.
– Reassemble all other parts in the
reverse sequence.
