OIL PUMP
The oil pump case securing screw is applied with
SUZUKI THREAD LOCK SUPER “1303”. If an attempt is
made to overhaul the oil pump assembly, the screw may
be damaged. Only the oil pump unit is available as a
replacement.

CLUTCH
CLUTCH DRIVE PLATES
Measure the thickness of the clutch drive plates using vernier
calipers. If a clutch drive plate is not within the service limit, re-
place the clutch plates as a set.

Drive plate thickness (No.1 & No.2)
Service Limit: 2.62 mm (0.103 in)
Drive plate claw width (No.1 & No.2)
Service Limit: 13.2 mm (0.520 in)
STARTER TORQUE LIMITER (DR-Z400E)
Do not attempt to disassemble the starter torque lim-
iter. It is unserviceable.
Check the slip torque of the starter torque limiter using the spe-
cial tools and vise as shown, if the slip torque is not within the
specified torque, replace the starter torque limiter with a new
one.

Slip torque:
30 – 55 N·m (3.0 – 5.5 kgf-m, 21.5 – 40.0 lb-ft)
CLUTCH DRIVEN PLATES
Measure each clutch driven plate for distortion using the thick-
ness gauge. If a clutch driven plate is not within the service
limit, replace the clutch plates as a set.
