perform a test (See Pulse Oximetry Testing). Enter test values or perform a
SpO
2
test. Select Next.
7. Record baseline fatigue and dyspnoea levels. Blood pressure and rest period
are optional entries. Select Next. Record and enter the lap length in metres.
Select OK.
Note: The walking course should be marked every 3 meters and the turnaround
points should be marked, for example with a cone. A starting point should also
be marked.
8. Instruct the user to start the Six Minute Walk Test according to the ATS
Guidelines for the Six-Minute Walk Test 2002. As soon as the subject starts to
walk, start the timer. Each time the subject returns to the start line, click the lap
counter once. On completion of the Six Minute Walk Test, the distance walked
on the final lap, if not completed, should be measured and entered in the
appropriate dialog. Select OK. Select Next.
9. Record the Final Fatigue and Dyspnoea levels. Select Next.
10. Record final heart rate and SpO
2
details for the subject by performing a SpO
2
test or by entering the SpO
2
values manually. To perform a SpO
2
test, select
the SpO
2
icon. The SpO
2
testing screen opens and the user can perform a test
(See Pulse Oximetry Testing). Select Next.
11. Record any Six Minute Walk Test comments by entering free text in the space
provided. Select Finish to end the Six Minute Walk Test. The main screen
opens and a summary of the test information is displayed.
4.5 Blood Pressure Management
Spirotrac includes a Blood Pressure module which records the measurement of a
subject’s blood pressure in millimetres of mercury (mm Hg) and pulse rate in beats per
minute (BPM). It is intended to provide a quick and easy way to record a subject’s
blood pressure.
To add a blood pressure measurement:
1. Once the required subject has been selected from the list, select Blood
Pressure from the Test menu or Select the Blood Pressure icon on the toolbar.
2. A Blood Pressure screen opens.
a. This screen provides the ability to manually enter and record the
following:
i. Date and time of the test
ii. Systolic reading in mmHg
iii. Diastolic reading in mmHg
iv. Pulse rate in BPM
v. Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)
vi. The arm used and the subject's posture.
b. This screen also displays the above information from the previous
session.
3. Enter the measured information and select Save.
