hot steam under high pressure. During operation and shortly thereafter, do not hold
your hands and arms or any delicate object on or under the group head or hot
water / steam wand to avoid scalds and damage.
Always ensure that the water tank is filled with a sufficient amount of water and the
drip tray is empty, assembled correctly and pushed completely into the base of the
appliance, before connecting the appliance to the power supply (see: ‘Reassembling
the Appliance’). Via the backflush system of the appliance some time after operati-
on, some hot water will run into the drip tray. Thus, always press the POWER button,
before removing the drip tray for emptying it.
However, during elongated operation,
you should regularly empty the drip tray.
Always switch OFF, unplug, and wait until the appliance cooled down, before clea-
ning or moving the appliance and when the appliance is not in use. To switch OFF
after operation:
ensure that the selection dial is in the vertical position (OFF). Then
press the POWER button. Always unplug the appliance, when leaving the appliance
unattended.
Always keep the working space clean and dry. Do not pour or spill any liquids on or
under the appliance. Do not place clothes or similar materials on or under the appli-
ance during operation. If any liquid has been spilled onto the housing of the appli-
ance, do not touch the appliance, but immediately unplug the appliance. Thereafter,
clean and dry the appliance (see: ‘Cleaning the Housing and Warming Plate’ and
leave the appliance dry naturally for at least 1 day.
IMPORTANT: Before switching on the appliance via the POWER button, always
ensure that the selection dial is turned to the vertical position (OFF).
BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Remove all packaging materials, stickers, and promotional labels attached to
your new espresso machine, but do not remove the model label. For shipping,
the drip tray and the water tank are installed correctly. You remove the drip tray
by simply pulling it out. Always ensure that young children do not play with any
parts or accessories or the packaging!
2. Ensure you have found all parts and accessories before discarding the packa-
ging. See: ‘Knowing Your »DESIGN ESPRESSO PRO«‘.
3. Remove the water tank located at the back of the espresso machine by pulling the
water tank lid upwards and, by the lid, lifting the water tank out of the support.
CAUTION: Do not use any abrasive cleaners, cleaning pads (e.g. metal scou-
ring pads), or any corrosive cleaners (e.g. disinfectants, chemical bleach) for clea-
ning. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects for cleaning the appliance. Clea-
