Note:
The appliance is not intended for giving off large amounts of hot water. After
approx. 10 seconds and producing approx. 500 ml of hot water, turn the selec-
tion dial back to the vertical position to switch off the hot water function and wait,
until the POWER button is illuminated continuously again. When taking more hot
water, the water will be only lukewarm and overheating of the heating elements
may occur.
1. Ensure that the drip tray is empty, the water tank is filled with an appropriate
amount of water, and the POWER button is illuminated continuously.
2. Place a suitable vessel under the hot water / steam wand (e.g. your cup). If you
wish to pre-heat the portafilter, turn the hot water / steam wand to the drip tray
and hold your portafilter under the tip of the hot water / steam wand (see: ‘Pre-
Heating’).
3. To start pouring hot water, turn the selection dial counter-clockwise to the HOT
WATER / STEAM position and leave the appliance operate, until the desired
amount is produced. However, do not leave the appliance operate for more than
10 seconds (approx. 500 ml).
4. Turn the selection dial back to the vertical position to stop the water flow. Take
your vessel out from under the hot water / steam wand and, by the handle, turn
the hot water / steam wand back to the drip tray, because even after operation,
some hot water could drip from the hot water / steam wand.
PREPARING LONG BLACK – USUAL COFFEE
The Long Black corresponds best to “usual” coffee. Due to being diluted via hot
water, the Long Black is much weaker than espresso. Commonly, the Long Black is
filled up to approx. 250 ml. To meat your liking, you may start with a single or dou-
ble shot of espresso.
1. Prepare an espresso (see: ‘Extracting the Espresso’).
2. According to your liking, add hot water via the hot water function of the appli-
ance (see: ‘Hot Water’).
TEXTURING MILK
The »DESIGN ESPRESSO PRO« enables texturing milk via the steam function.
However, always start with fresh, cold milk. You will get the best results, when using
low-fat milk. Keep a damp, clean cloth at hand for wiping residues of milk off the hot
water / steam wand after texturing.
