Measure the shim thickness and record it.
Calculate the new shim thickness using the equa-
tion below.
A=(B-C\+D
A: N ew shim thickness
B: Recorded valve clearance
C: Specified valve clearance
D: O ld shim thickness
• Make sure of the correct shim thickness by mea-
suring the shim using a micrometer .
• Aefaea the intake valve seat if carbon deposits
result in a calculated dimension of over 2.450
mm.
• Re t aee the exhaust valve seat if carbon deposits
result in a calculated dimension
of over 3.000
mm.
Install the new ly se lected sh ims on the valve sp rin g
retainer s.
Install the camshaft holder assembly.

Rotate the camshaft by rotating the crankshaft
clockwise several times.
Recheck the
valve clearance.
Check t hat the 0- Apply oil to the O-ring and install it onto crankshaft

condition, rep/Bcelf Apply grease to the crankshaft hole cap threads.
If necessary. Install and tighten the crankshaft hole cap to the
specified torque,
TORQUE : 15 N'm (1 .5 kgf·m, 11 Ibf.ft)
Install
the cylinder head cover (page 9-42 ).
