Traction Circuit
Symptom: Machine Will Not Move
1. Turn the key to the run position. Enter the
maintenance mode. Toggle the LCD to the switch
status screen.

2. Sit in the seat and observe the digit at position (1).
Does the zero change to a one when the seat
switch it engaged?
YES Seat switch is good. Proceed to next step.
NO The seat switch is faulty. Check connections
at switch and/or bench test switch and
replace as needed.
3. Toggle the LCD to the CAN Bus Status Screen.

4. Observe the TCU status (2). A flashing display
indicates the controller is not communicating.
Is the TCU communicating with the CAN system?
YES TCU communication is good. Proceed to the
next step.
NO TCU communication is faulty. Check CAN
line connections.

5. Park the machine on a level surface, with the reels
up, and the key switch in the off position. Attempt to
roll the machine a short distance.
Can the machine be moved manually?
YES The brake assembly has a mechanical
failure. Repair or replace as needed.
NO The brake assembly is good. Proceed to the
next step.
6. Sit in the seat. Observe the traction contactor output
LED (3) on the main control unit (MCU).
Does the traction contactor output LED
illuminate?
YES The traction contactor output is good.
Proceed to the next step.
NO The traction contactor output is faulty.
Replace the MCU.
7. Test traction pedal position sensor. (See “Traction
Pedal Position Sensor” on page 4-159.)
Does the traction pedal position sensor test
between 4.3 and 4.4 VDC?
YES The traction pedal position sensor is good.
Proceed to the next step.
NO Adjust or replace traction pedal position
sensor as needed.
8. Test brake pedal switch.
Does the multimeter indicate an ohms value of
0.02 or less?
YES The brake pedal switch is good. Check brake
pedal switch harness and connectors.
Proceed to the next step.
NO Replace switch as needed.
