What to do in an emergency Towing
僅 Do not tow the vehicle with four
wheels in contact with the ground if it
is the vehicle equipped with AT. Oth
-
erwise, the transmission will be seri
-
ously damaged. Also, make sure not
to tow the vehicle connecting it with
other vehicles including camper vans.
僅 If you tow the vehicle while the front
wheels are touching the ground, the
vehicle motor may generate electricity
and the motor components may be
damaged or a fire may occur.
僅When a vehicle fire occurs due to the
battery, there is a risk of a second fire.
Contact the fire department when
towing the vehicle.
Towing without wheel dollies
when using a towing service
When towing your vehicle in an emer
-
gency without wheel dollies:
1. Set the ignition switch or ENGINE
START/STOP button to ACC position.
2. Place the shift lever in N (Neutral).
3. Release the parking brake.
Towing gear position
Failure to shift to N (Neutral) may cause
internal damage to the vehicle.
Automatic transmission
僅 If the car is being towed with all four
wheels on the ground, it can be towed
only from the front. Be sure that the
transmission is in neutral. Be sure the
steering is unlocked by placing the
ignition switch or ENGINE START/
STOP button in the ACC position. A
driver must be in the towed vehicle to
operate the steering and brakes.
僅 To avoid serious damage to the trans
-
mission, limit the vehicle speed to 15
km/h (10 mph) and drive less than 1.5
km (1 mile) when towing.
僅 Before towing, check the transmission
for fluid leaks under your vehicle. If
the transmission fluid is leaking, flat
-
bed equipment or a towing dolly must
be used.
Removable towing hook
1. Open the liftgate, and remove the
towing hook from the tool case.
2. Remove the hole cover pressing the
upper part of the cover on the front
bumper.
