Install the shock absorber. x ( p. 67)
– Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. ( p. 56)
– Check the static sag of the shock absorber. ( p. 50)
– Check the riding sag of the shock absorber. ( p. 50)
– Adjust the rebound damping of the shock absorber. ( p. 49)
11.11 Checking basic setting of fork

For various reasons, no exact riding sag can be determined for the forks.

– As with the shock absorber, smaller differences in the rider's weight can be com-
pensated by the spring preload.
– However, if the fork is often overloaded (hard end stop on compression), harder
springs must be fit to avoid damage to the fork and frame.
11.12 Adjusting the compression damping of the fork

The hydraulic compression damping determines the fork suspension behavior.

– Remove protection caps 1.
– Turn adjusting screws 2 clockwise all the way.
Info
Adjusting screws 2 are located at the bottom end of the fork legs.
Make the same adjustment on both fork legs.
– Turn back counterclockwise by the number of clicks corresponding to the fork
type.
Guideline
Compression damping
Comfort 22 clicks
Standard 20 clicks
Sport 18 clicks

Turn clockwise to increase damping; turn counterclockwise to reduce
damping.
– Mount protection caps 1.

– Turn the white adjusting screw 3 all the way clockwise.
Info
Adjusting screw 3 is located at the upper end of the left fork leg.
The compression damping is located in the left fork leg COMP (white
adjusting screw). The rebound damping is located in the right fork
leg REB (red adjusting screw).
– Turn back counterclockwise by the number of clicks corresponding to the fork
type.
