Tailgatelatches
Whenthetailgatelatchesdonotfunctionproperly,such
as:
Thetailgateopensprematurely,thetailgatefailstoopen
(latchesfailtodisengage),
Thelatchengagesordisengagesononeside,andnoton
theotherside,checkthefollowingpoints.
1.Checkthattheeyebolt(3)isatwiththelatch(the
tailgateisopenedtobetterexposetheobject).
2.Thetailgatelatchsprings(4)(onbothsides)donot
requireadjustment.Regularlyverifyforpossible
failure.
3.Withthetailgateproperlyclosed(freefromcropac-
cumulationpreventingthetailgatetofullyclose;the
tractorhydraulicsintheoatposition),verifythat
latches(8)raiseupandpositivelyengagepin(9).
Verifythatthetailgatehingesareingoodcondition
aswell.

4.Adjusteachlatchindividuallywithlinks(5)onboth
sidesofthebaler.Adjustlinks(5)withnut(1)and
jamnut(2)oneyebolt(3).
5.Verifythatthedensityspringisretracted,therub-
berdampers(10)pressedrmlyagainstthetailgate
frame.
AdjusttherubberdamperstoobtainaclearanceX
=5-7mm(0.2-0.3in)equallyonbothsides.

Densitysprings
Thespringsareadjustedex‐factoryforpropereld
operationandnormallydonotrequiremaintenance.
Theyhaveapreloadof3.8kN(854.3lb)withthebale
chamberclosedandempty.If,foranyreason,oneor
bothspringshavetobereplaced,proceedasfollows:
1.Removebothspringsfromthebaler.
2.Measurethelength(fromeyetoeye)oftheunten-
sionedspringsthatwillbeinstalledonthemachine.
