1. Remove the drive spring to release tension on the
idler arm assembly (see Figure C–7).
2. Remove the cotter pin and washer that secure the
rear end of the clutch rod to the idler arm assembly
and brake arm (see Figure C–7). Separate the brake
arm from the clutch rod and idler assembly

3. Remove the hex locknut from the brake rod. Remove
the brake spring (see Figure C–8). Remove and
inspect the brake arm.
4. Remove the cotter pin and washer that attach the
brake rod to the transmission brake lever (see figure
C–9). Remove and inspect the brake rod.
