DRIVE CHAIN
With the transmission in neutral, support the motorcycle using
the center-stand and turn the rear wheel slowly by hand. Visu-
ally check the drive chain for the possible defects listed below.
* Loose pins * Excessive wear
* Damaged rollers * Improper chain adjustment
* Dry or rusted links * Missing O-ring seals
* Kinked or binding links

B Grease
If any defects are found, the drive chain must be replaced.
NOTE:
When replacing the drive chain, replace the drive chain and
sprockets as a set.
CHECKING
• Remove the cotter pin. (E-28)
• Loosen the axle nut

• Tense the drive chain fully by turning both chain adjuster bolts

2.
• Count out 21 pins (20 pitches) on the chain and measure the
distance between the two points. If the distance exceeds the
service limit, the chain must be replaced.

Service Limit: 319 mm
Inspect initially at 1 000 km (2 month) and every 6 000
km (12 months) thereafter.
Lubricate every 1 000 km.
