Install the valve springs with the smaller pitch
A facing the
cylinder head.
B Larger pitch
C Up
D Paint mark
Install the valve spring retainer, press down the springs using
the valve lifter and then install the cotter halves on to the stem
end. Then, release the valve lifter to allow the cotter
1 to
wedge between the retainer and the valve stem. Be sure that
the rounded lip
A of the cotter fits snugly into the groove
B in
the stem end.

Apply engine oil to the rocker arm shaft sufficiently.
Install the rocker arms
2, the springs
3 and the rocker arm
shaft.
Tighten the rocker arm shaft set bolt
4 and cylinder head
plug
5 to the specified torque.
) 09900-00410: Hexagon wrench set
# Rocker arm shaft set bolt
4: 9 N·m (0.9 kgf-m)
Cylinder head plug
5: 28 N·m (2.8 kgf-m)
Be sure to install all of the parts in their original posi-
tions.
