Real-Time S ampling
Record points
MDO4000 Serie
s oscilloscopes use
real-time sampling. In real-time sampling,
the instrument digitizes all of the points it
acquires usin
g a single trigger event.

The instrument builds the waveform record through use of the following parameters:
Sample interval: The time between
recorded sample points. Adjust this
by turnin
gtheHorizontal Scale knob
or pushing Acquire and changing the
record length in the Acquire menu.
Record length: The number of samples
require
dtofill a waveform record. Set
this by pushing the Acquire button and
using the resulting lower- and side-bezel
menus.
Trigg
er point: T he zero time reference in
a waveform record. It is shown on the
screen by an orange T.
Horizontal position: When Delay Mode
is on, this is the time from the trigger
poin
t to the expansion point. Adjust this
by turning the Horizontal Position knob.
Use a positive time to acquire the record
afte
r the trigger point. Use a negative
time to acquire it before the trigger point.
Exp
ansion point: The point that the
horizontal scale expands and contracts
around. It is shown by an orange triangle.
