SME2-IS - Manual - 06- 2021
FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Interface methods
The device has 2 ways to interface with other substation equipment:
In the BASIC conguration, faults and voltage present are reported, and a single value is sent to the
remote control peripheral (UP).
The open/close commands and the automatic reclosing function are handled by UP itself, which is
connected directly to the DY 800.
Communications between the SME2-IS and the substation router employ the IEC 61850 protocol and
enable the use of the BLIND function.
Basic conguration
The ST RGDM interfaces with the current UP DX 1215 (most common scenario). In this case one must
also provide a hardware interface with UP and towards the breaker so that, even in systems in which
the RGDM cannot be used in extended mode, it can nonetheless dialogue with UP and co-exist with
it.
In this case the ST RGDM communicates with UP via a wired connection and UP itself controls the
DY800.
