SME2-IS - Manual - 06 - 2021
FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Virtual I/O
Foreword
The Thyvisor and ThyVisor applications allow you to dene the type of operation of and the connec-
tions between the virtual outputs (Virtual Output - VOUT1...16) and inputs (Virtual Inputs - VIN1...VIN32)
using the RPC or IEC 61850 protocols over Ethernet.
The system:
[1]
Provides sixteen outputs and thirty two inputs, all independently programmable by the user
Simplies cabling, since it uses Ethernet as the single channel
Does away with the need to install external communications and conversion equipment
Signicantly reduces costs
Enables dynamic modication of the connections and their associated functions in software.
Applications
The SME-2I's virtual I/O can be used for:
1) Transmitting information between protections at large distances from each other, for which con-
ventional signal connections would have critical reliability issues.
2) Implementing accelerated logical selectivity, in which certain protection functions may be blocked
by the activation of the start output of downline protections
3) Operating the circuit breaker
4) Selecting regulation banks
5) Remote tripping
6) Inserting I/O into programmable logic (PLC)
7) etc.
Virtual Outputs:
Timers t
V
, t
F-IPh
and t
F-IE
start when the virtual output is activated; at the end of the count, the virtual
outputs are deactivated (OFF); if the timers t
V
, t
F-IPh
and t
F-IE
set to zero, the virtual output follows the
state of the associated signal (start, trip, IN).
The operational ranges are:
Voltage protection start drop-out time (t
V
) 0.00...30.00 s (step 0.01 s)
Phase protection start drop-out time (t
F-IPh
) 0.00...30.00 s (step 0.01 s)
Ground protection start drop-out time (t
F-IE
) 0.00...30.00 s (step 0.01 s)
Tripping drop-out time (t
Trip)
0.00...30.00 s (step 0.01 s)
All parameters are available in the menu Set \ Virtual Outputs \ Settings.
Virtual inputs
LinkLoss timer 3.0...60.0 s (step 0.1 s)
When a virtual input is set to remote tripping, the remote trip is commanded if the communications
network fails, once the counter has counted down.
All parameters are available in the menu Set \ Virtual Inputs \ Settings.
Note 1 Given the numerous possible applications, refer to the application notes for detailed information
