FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
— GD management function
UPG function
The UPG (generator peripheral unit) has two purposes:
• To determine, locally, when the voltage control trips by sending a power factor threshold; the aim
is to induce a variation in the reactive power exchanged at the point of delivery. This mode is acti-
vated when a given voltage threshold is exceeded
• To request assistance from the central system (VCS – Voltage Control System) if local voltage
control is ineffective
The UPG function enables both generator management - and consequently voltage regulation along
the line - and remote disconnection of the producer (command towards the PI) or inhibits the tripping
of its own general protection (PG).
