ACF5000 FTIR ANALYZER SYSTEM | OI/ACF5000-EN REV. A 25
Operating gases and test gases
FTIR spectrometer
Zero air:
Quality Clean compressed air from the air purifier
Inlet pressure p
e
= 2000 ± 100 hPa (2.0 ± 0.1 bar)
Flow rate max. 500 l/h
Span gas:
Quality Measured component in N
2
, 70 to 80% of the measuring range (accuracy ±2%)
Inlet pressure p
e
= 1500 ± 100 hPa (1.5 ± 0.1 bar)
Flow rate max. 500 l/h
NOTICE The test gases H
2
O, HCl, HF, and NH
3
are produced by a vapor generator
through vaporization of distilled water, HCl, HF, or NH
3
solutions with known
concentrations.
Test gases for the FTIR spectrometer may only be issued by trained service
personnel. In the event of a leak in the components for the test gas task,
there is a risk of poisoning when opening the analyzer cabinet. Before open-
ing the cabinet, the test gas supply therefore needs to be shut-off and the
leakproofness of the test gas line verified by observing the pressure on the
manometer. The leakproofness is ensured only if the pressure remains con-
stant.
FID
Combustion air: Clean compressed air from the air purifier is used as combustion air.
Combustion gas:
Quality H
2
, quality 5.0
Inlet pressure p
e
= 1200 ± 100 hPa (1.2 ± 0.1 bar)
Flow rate approx. 4 l/h
NOTICE Provide two 40-l bottles and a selector station. A flow restrictor that limits
the combustion gas flow rate to 10 l/h is installed in the bulkhead fitting for
connection of the combustion gas line.
Zero gas:
Quality N
2
, quality 5.0
Inlet pressure p
e
= 1500 ± 100 hPa (1.5 ± 0.1 bar)
Flow rate max. 500 l/h
Span gas:
Quality n-Propane C
3
H

in N
2
, 70 to 80% of the measuring range (accuracy ±2%)
Inlet pressure p
e
= 1500 ± 100 hPa (1.5 ± 0.1 bar)
Flow rate max. 500 l/h
NOTICE Since the FID analyzer measures only the number of C atoms, the concentra-
tion of the zero gas must be converted from ppm or mg/m
