6 Installation
6.5.4 Connecting an external alarm unit
Cable and wiring requirements
● Shielded twisted-pair cable with solid conductors (CAT 5 or
CAT 6.
● Cable diameter: 5 mm
● Wire cross-section: 1 mm

► Lay the cable with a suitable clearance to the AC and DC
cables to prevent interference in the data connection.
6.5.4.1 Wiring for an external alarm unit with an external
12 V
DC
power supply
The external alarm unit must be connected to an external power
supply if the internal 12V
DC
power supply is not used.

1. Connect two wires of the cable to one of the two dry con-
tacts.
2. After commissioning, use the inverter display to assign an
event for triggering the alarm unit (see “8.4.6 Dry contacts”,
page 98).
