SETTING UP THE PRINTER 24
SETTING UP THE PRINTER
Before you set up the Fiery Controller, you must configure the printer so that it can
communicate with the Fiery Controller. Change or verify these types of settings:
• Protocol settings
The default protocol settings on the printer are sufficient for connection to the Fiery
Controller. For more information, see the documentation that accompanies your printer.
• Fiery Controller Setup
Using the printer touch panel, make sure that the Fiery Controller Setup options are
compatible with your network. For more information, see “Setting up the Fiery
Controller” on page 24.
•Print accounting
Use the Xerox Accounting feature in Configure to set up print accounting (see page 42).
•SNMP and Admin settings
Use EFI WorkCentre Config to configure SNMP and Admin settings (see page 30).
Setting up the Fiery Controller
You can set up the Fiery Controller from the printer touch panel, WebTools, or Command
WorkStation (see “Accessing Configure from a network computer” on page 32). It is
recommended that you use the printer touch panel for initial set up. It is also recommended
that you
• Set up the Fiery Controller after installing or reinstalling system software. If you do not,
default settings are used.
• Before you set up Fiery Controller, make sure it is connected to a functioning
network. The Fiery Controller queries the network for zones, servers, and server-based
queues. If you do not, default settings are used that may not meet your needs.
• Configure options only for the network systems that are currently used at your site. If your
network requirements change, you can change Setup at any time. If the Fiery Controller is
configured to enable more than one protocol, it automatically switches to the correct
protocol when it receives a print job.
