Connecting external devices
USB port with charging function (Anytime USB charge)
USBchargingfunction
It is recomme nded that the notebook be operated with the po wer supply conn ected
whenever the USB port with charging function is in use, as this function will drain
the battery more quickly if an external USB device is being charged.
The power supply unit must already be connected when the notebook is
switched off, as otherwise the USB charging function w ill be disabled and
the conn ecte d USB devices will not be charged.
Some U S B devices (e.g. mobile telephones) req uire a driver in order to utilize the
USB cha rging function. In this c ase the USB charging function will not work when th e
notebook is switched off, as no drivers a re active when the notebook is switched off.
You can use this
USB port to charge or supply power to a USB device (e.g. to charge a PDA
or a mobile phon
e or to connect a U SB lamp), even if the notebook is switched off.
