Removing and installing c omponents
during servicing
Preparing to remove components
If you are going t o remove or change syst em componen ts, prepare for the removal as follows:
Please observe the safety information in chapter "Important notes", Page 14.
Remove t he power plug from the power o utlet !
Switch t he device off.
The de vice must not be in energy-saving mode !
Close the LCD screen.
Remove all the cables
from t he device.
Turn the device over and place it on a stable, at and clean surface. If necessary, lay an
anti-slip cloth on this surface to prevent the device from being scratched.
Remove the battery
(see "
Removing a battery", Page 34).

If you are aske d by the Hotline/Service Desk to remove and insta ll the memory
expansion yourself, proce ed as follow s:

When installing/removing memory modules, the battery must be removed from
the noteb ook and the notebook must not be connected to the power supply,
see "
Prep aring to remove components " , Page 62.
Only use memory expansion m odules that ha ve been approved for your
notebook (see "
Technical dat a", Page 74).
Never use force when installing or removing a mem ory extension.
Make sure that foreign objects do not fall into the memory extension compartment.
You must open the service compartment to remove or install a memory module. On some devices,
opening the compartment ma y expose other components. These components should be removed
and replaced only by authorized specialists. Therefore, be sure to observe the following:
Individual components can become very hot during operation. Therefore, we
recommend that you wait one hour after switch ing off the notebook before removing
or insta lling memory modules. Otherwise, there is a risk of suffering burns!
As some components are exposed tha t are s ensitive to static electricity, please take
note of chapter "
