11. Press F10 to exit the read dump.
The dump icon disappears from the 3592 operator panel when the dump to file
has completed.
12. Press q to quit tapeutil.
13. Press Ctrl+] to get a telnet> prompt, then type quit to stop the TELNET session.
14. Copy the file /tmp/3592.dmp from the SP2 node that has the 3592 attached.
a. Connect to the target node by typing ftp nodeid.
Enter a Name and a Password when prompted.
b. Set Binary mode by typing binary.
c. Transfer the file by typing get /tmp/3592.dmp /tmp/3592.dmp.
d. Quit the connection by typing quit.
15. Copy the contents of the file to the diskette on the CWS by typing
dd if=/tmp/3592.dmp of=/dev/rfd0 bs=18k conv=sync at the prompt.
16. Remove the diskette from the diskette drive. The dump diskette created above is
in AIX/UNIX format.
Offloading Dumps to Control Unit using TAPEUTIL
The dump icon appears when the dump is available. It remains on the screen to
indicate that trace data is stored in the device.
Note: Trace data is volatile and is lost if you press the Reset pushbutton or power
OFF the device.
1. At the drive service panel, verify that the drive is Online.
2. Verify that the drive is unloaded.
3. Verify that the drive is not in use by another host.
4. Locate the control unit diskette drive, and insert into it a formatted diskette that
will be used for the dump.
5. Refer to the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Controller 3592 Model J70 Maintenance
Information or the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Controller 3590 Model A60
Maintenance Information to login to the control unit as Service.
6. Select Tape Drive Utilities (tapeutil) menu.
7. Select Tape Drive Services Aids option from the menu, and press Enter.
8. Select Read Dump from the following panel, and press Enter.
