CHANGING THE COOLANT
1. Open the drain cock on the side of cyl-
inder block and open the radiator cap.
Allow the coolant to drain completely.
2. Flush the radiator with clean water, and
then close the drain cock.
3. Pour the new coolant mixture into the
radiator and auxiliary water tank. Re-
place the radiator cap and tighten
securely.
CAUTION
Pour coolant into the radiator slowly
(less than 10 L/min. or 10.6 qt./min.)
to prevent air from being trapped in
the cooling system. Air in the sys-
tem will cause engine overheating.
SELECTING AND MIXING COOLANT
A permanent type (PT) antifreeze should
always be used if there is any probability
of freezing temperatures. Antifreeze low-
ers the freezing point of the engine cool-
ant to protect the cooling system and en-
gine from freezing; which may cause a
rupture of components or the engine. Al-
ways use the proper mix of antifreeze and
clean water for the engine coolant. Note
that good quality antifreeze will contain
additives to keep the cooling system
clean, and it also improves cooling per-
formance in hot weather.
CAUTION
The mixture of antifreeze and water
should not exceed 50/50. Follow the
directions provided by the antifreeze
manufacturer.
Do not mix rust inhibitors or any
other chemicals with antifreeze. It
may cause serious damage to the
cooling system.
CLEANING THE RADIATOR SCREEN

(1) Radiator Screen
The radiator screen is designed to pro-
tect the radiator core from dirt, trash,
insects, etc.. It must be cleaned regularly
to maintain good air flow through the
radiator.
IMPORTANT
Always stop the engine before
cleaning the radiator screen or per-
forming any other service.
