INADEQUATE BRAKING EFFECT
CHECKING THE PARKING BRAKE
TEST CONDITIONS
• Tyre pressure: according to specification
• Road surface: dry, solid surface with a gradient of 25%
• Machine: ready for operation
TEST PROCEDURE
1. Start the engine, set the machine to straight driving, and
drivethemachinewithanemptybucketupagradientof
25%.
2. Stop the machine with the service brake and do not release
your foot again to keep the service brake applied.
3. Lower the bucket.
4. Set the driving direction switch (1) to its neutral position 'N'.
5. Switch off the engine.
6. Apply the parking brake (2) and slowly release the pedal of
the service brake.
The machine must stand still.

• All repairs on the brake system must be performed by a
garage which is authorised by Komatsu.
