Faults Possible cause Action
The engine does not turn when
the start button is pressed
Operating error – Carry out start procedure. ( p. 165)
12-V battery discharged – Charge the 12-V battery. ( p. 313)
– Check the open-circuit current.
Fuse 1, 2 or 3 blown – Change the fuses of individual electri-
cal power consumers. ( p. 321)
Main fuse burned out – Change the main fuse. ( p. 316)
No ground connection present – Check the ground connection.
The engine only turns if the
clutch lever is drawn
The vehicle is in gear – Shift the transmission into neutral .
The vehicle is in gear and the
side stand is folded out
– Shift the transmission into neutral .
The engine turns but does not
start
Operating error – Carry out start procedure. ( p. 165)
Fuse 3 blown – Change the fuses of individual electri-
cal power consumers. ( p. 321)
Quick release coupling not
joined
– Join quick release coupling.
Malfunction in the electronic
fuel injection
– Read out the fault memory using the
KTM diagnostics tool.
Throttle opened while starting – When starting, DO NOT open the throt-
tle.
– Carry out start procedure. ( p. 165)
Engine has too little power Air filter is very dirty – Remove the air filter.
– Install the air filter.
