Brake Light Switch (4X4)
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove the front rack.
3. Remove the front cover.
4. Locate and remove both relays from the relay block.
Remove single Torx screw holding relay block to the
vehicle frame. Move relay block towards the front if
the vehicle. The brake light switch is directly below
the relay block.
5. Disconnect wire harness from switch.
6. Connect an ohmmeter across switch contacts.
Reading should be infinite (¥).
7. Apply brake at handlebar lever and check for
continuity between switch contacts. Replace switch if
there is no continuity or greater than .5 ohms
resistance when the brake is applied with slight
pressure.
Brake Light Switch (6X6)
There are 2 switches: The “All-Brake” switch is located at
the rear of the vehicle along the frame rail. The ‘Rear-
Only’ switch is located at the right handlebar master
cylinder.
1. Disconnect wire harness from switch. The ‘rear-only’
harness may require head light pod disassembly.
2. Connect an ohmmeter across switch contacts.
Reading should be infinite (¥).
3. Apply brake at handlebar lever and check for
continuity between switch contacts. Replace switch if
there is no continuity or greater than .5 ohms
resistance when the brake is applied with slight
pressure.
