Scanning 65
About scan groups
Your radio has several pre-programmed scan groups
which allow you to monitor a group of channels or
talkgroups.
There a different types of scan groups, all with slightly
different behaviour:
■ Standard scan groups contain a list of P25 con-
ventional and analog channels. Standard scan
groups appear in the channel list, and you can
select a standard scan group like any other chan-
nel. Changing to another channel will end scan-
ning the scan group.
■ Background scan groups scan the P25 conven-
tional and analog group members as well as the
current channel selected on the radio. You can
change the current channel while the radio contin-
ues to scan the background scan group.
■ Talkgroup scan groups monitor calls from multi-
ple trunk talkgroups and up to five additional con-
ventional channels (P25 or analog).
Warning If a talkgroup scan group contains P25 or
analog conventional channels, scanning needs to exit
trunk mode briefly to scan the conventional channels.
This may result in delayed or even missed calls!
You can activate scanning and select a scan group
using the menu.
A scan group can have a pre-programmed transmit
channel, or the transmit channel defaults to the
currently selected channel or last captured channel.
Scan groups can have no, one or two priority channels
which are scanned more often than other channels in
the scan group. Calls from the priority channels take
precedence over those from non-priority group
members.
Your radio may be configured to allow you to view the
members of scan groups, add and delete channels,
change the transmit channel, and change the priority
channels.
