from
the
back
of
the
board
and
remove
the
relay
.
Clean
the
circuit
board
contacts
and
contact
fingers
with
a
small
brush
and
isoprophyl
alcohol
.
Do
not
use
any
sol
vent
that
may
attack
polycarbonates
such
as
hydrocarbon
chlorides
,
ketones
,
esters
,
etc.
Do
not
use
a
cotton
swab
as
small
cotton
filaments
may
remain
on
the
contact
area
.
To
remove
the
relay
armature
from
the
relay
,
use
a
wire
or
tool
with
a
diameter
less
than
0.040
in
.
,
such
as
a
paperclip
.
Before
removing
the
armature
,
mark
the
orienta
tion
of
the
armature
to
the
housing
.
Orientation
is
important
for
proper
operation
.
Place
the
tool
in
the
slot
on
the
side
of
the
housing
and
gently
lift
the
relay
armature
.

Clean
the
interior
of
the
relay
,
around
the
pole
pieces
,
with
isopropyl
alcohol
.
The
interior
of
the
relay
must
be
com
pletely
dry
before
reinstalling
the
armature
.
Use
air
to
dry
excess
alcohol
from
the
housing
.
NOTE
Do
not
spray
contact
cleaner
on
the
relays
or
any
where
on
the
board
when
they
are
installed
on
the
board
.
Any
foreign
material
between
the
pole
pieces
and
the
armature
can
cause
faulty
operation
.

Board
Extenders
Use
the
board
extender
kit
,
(
refer
to
Table
7-2
for
Tektronix
Part
No.
)
to
access
the
boards
for
calibration
or
servicing
.
This
kit
consists
of
two
large
extenders
,
and
sev
eral
ribbon
cables
.
One
large
extender
permits
extension
of
the
Sine
Shaper
,
Loop
I
,
Loop
II
,
and
Output
Amplifier
boards
from
the
Interconnect
board
.
The
other
large
extend
er
permits
extension
of
the
CPU
and
Display
Driver
boards
.
A
nine
-
pin
ribbon
cable
extends
the
connection
between
the
Output
Amplifier
and
Display
Driver
boards
.
The
remaining
ribbon
cables
are
used
to
extend
the
Front
Panel
board
from
the
Interconnect
board
.
The
kit
also
includes
a
T
-
handle
for
ease
in
pulling
the
boards
to
disconnect
them
from
the
Interconnect
board
.

names
are
shown
in
Fig
.
7-6
.
Instrument
Disassembly
To
disassemble
the
FG
5010
,
first
remove
the
instrument
side
covers
.
Then
remove
the
instrument
back
.
Use
a
3/16
in
.
wrench
on
the
bottom
fasteners
.
Next
,
remove
all
screws
attaching
the
top
to
the
boards
and
frame
.

Figs
.
7-7
and
7-8
for
screw
locations
.
Remove
the
instrument
top
.
Remove
the
two
screws
attaching
the
selected
board
from
the
bottom
of
the
instrument
.

Fig
.

.
All
of
the
boards
except
the
Output
Amplifier
,
Interconnect
and
Front
Panel
boards
may
be
removed
individually
.
To
remove
the
Display
Driver
board
,
disconnect
the
nine
-
pin
ribbon
connector
from
the
rear
of
the
board
.
To
remove
the
Output
Amplifier
board
,
first
remove
the
Display
Driver
board
.
To
remove
the
Interconnect
board
,
remove
the
six
large
boards
that
plug
into
the
Interconnect
board
.
Remove
the
latch
handle
by
pushing
the
rearmost
part
of
the
latch
for
ward
and
pressing
down
on
the
handle
to
disengage
the
front
part
.
Remove
the
two
screws
attaching
the
Interconnect
board
to
the
instrument
bottom
(
see
Fig
.
7-8
)
.
Then
,
remove
the
two
screws
in
the
lower
corners
of
the
front
panel
.
Grasping
the
front
panel
with
one
hand
and
the
Interconnect
board
with
the
other
,
gently
pull
apart
the
15
and
25
pin
connectors
between
the
Front
Panel
board
and
the
Interconnect
board
.
Position
the
front
panel
aside
and
lift
the
Interconnect
board
to
clear
the
notch
in
the
bottom
of
the
instrument
.
When
reinstalling
the
Interconnect
board
to
the
Front
Panel
board
,
make
certain
the
coaxial
cables
are
routed
so
that
they
do
not
interfere
with
the
15
and
25
pin
connectors
.
To
remove
the
Front
Panel
board
from
the
front
panel
,
remove
the
four
screws
attaching
the
Front
Panel
board
to
the
front
panel
.
