1.Supporttheoatarmandpickuptubetogether
andsliptheoatandfuellterintotheopening
inthefueltank(Figure80).
Important:Ensurethattheoatandthe
longlegofthelterarepointingforwardin
thetankandthettingatthetopofthefuel
pumppoints90°towardthecenterlineofthe
machine.
2.Seatthefuelpump/sendingunitintotheopening
inthetank(Figure80andFigure81).
3.Installthesealandnutoverthefuel
pump/sendingandontotheneckofthefueltank
andtightenthenuthandtight(Figure80).
4.Connectthecouplingonthefuelhosetothe
ttingofthefuelpump(Figure80).
Note:Ensurethatthelockingsleeveofthe
fuel-hosecouplingsecuresthecouplingtothe
pumptting.
5.Connectthe2-socketconnectorofthe
machine-wiringharnesstothe2-pinconnector
ofthefuelpump/sendingunit;Connectthe2-pin
connectorofthemachine-wiringharnesstothe
2-socketconnectorofthefuelpump/sending
unit(Figure80).
6.RotatethestarterswitchtotheONpositionand
checkthefuel-hosecouplingforleaks.
Note:Ifthecouplingleaks,rotatethestarter
switchtotheOFFposition,removethekey,
removethecoupling,checkthecouplingand
ttingfordirtordamage,andinstallthehose
andcouplingontothetting.
Note:Repairanyfuelleaksbeforeproceeding
tothenextstep.
7.Assemblethecovertothetankwiththe4screws
(#10x3/4inch)thatyouremovedinstep2of
InstallingtheFuelPumpandSendingUnit(page
62).
8.Torquethescrewsto113N∙cm(10in-lb).
DrainingtheFuelTank
ServiceInterval:Every400hours/Yearly(whichever
comesrst)
Drainandcleanthefueltankifthefuelsystem
becomescontaminatedorifyouplantostorethe
machineforanextendedperiod.Whencleaningthe
fueltank,usefresh,cleanfueltoushoutthetank.
1.Transferthefuelfromthetankintoanapproved
fuelcontainerusingasiphonpump,orfromthe
machinebeforeyoupourthefueloutofthetank
llspoutintothefuelcontainer.
Note:Ifyouremovethefueltank,youwill
needtodisconnectthefuelhoseandelectrical
connectorsfromthefuelpumpandsendingunit;
refertoRemovingtheFuelPumpandSending
Unit(page60).
2.Flushthetankwithfresh,cleanfuel,ifnecessary.
3.Replacethefuellters;refertoReplacingthe
FuelFilter(page61).
4.Installthetankifyouremoveditinstep1.
Note:Ifyouremovethefueltank,youwill
needtoconnectthefuelhoseandelectrical
connectorstothefuelpumpandsendingunit;
refertoInstallingtheFuelPumpandSending
Unit(page62).
5.Fillthetankwithfresh,cleanfuel.
BleedingtheFuelSystem
Usethisprocedureafteryouhaveservicedthefuel
lterorrantheengineoutoffuel,andtheenginedoes
notstart.
1.Ensurethatyouhave1/2tankoffuelinthefuel
tank.
2.Insertthekeyintothestarterswitchandrotateit
totheONposition.
3.RotatethekeytotheOFFposition.
4.Attempttostarttheengine.
5.Iftheenginedoesnotstart,repeatsteps2and
3severaltimesandthenattempttostartthe
engine.
Note:Repeatstep5untiltheenginestarts.
