Full level
With the engi ne at operati ng t empera-
ture and tur ned off , check the oil level
on the dipstick.
1. To get a cor rect reading, t he vehi cle
should be on level gr ound. Aft er warn-
ing up the engi ne and turni ng if off ,
wait more than f ive minutes f or the oil
to drain back into t he bottom of the
engine.
2. Pull the dipst ick out, hol d a rag under
the end and wi pe it clean.
3. Reinsert the dipstick—push it in as far
as it will go, or t he reading wi ll not be
correct.
4. Pull the dips tic k out and l ook at t he oil
level w hile holding a rag under the
end.
NOTICE
Be car eful not to drop engine oi l on
the vehicle components.
If the engine oil level is above the ful l
level—
If the level is bet ween t he f ull level and
the “x” mark, operation of the vehicle
can continue. However, t he oi l level will
need to be checked more oft en.
As your vehicle is equipped with t he DPF
(diesel particulate filter) system, the oil
may contain some fuel. The oi l level is
theref ore lik ely t o exceed the f ull lev el.

2.
If the level i s over the “x” mark, the oil
may contain a signifi cant amount of
fuel. To avoid engine damage, change
the oil as soon as possi ble.
NOTICE
Operati ng the vehicl e when the engine
oil contains a signifi cant amount of
diesel f uel may r esult in damage to
the engi ne. If a signi ficant amount of
fuel is present , change t he oil as
soon as possible.
If t he o il level is bel ow or only slight ly
above t he low level, add engine oil of
the same type as alr eady in t he engine.
Remove the oil filler cap and add engine
oil in small quantities at a ti me, c hecking
the dipstick. We recommend that you use
a funnel when adding oil.
The approx imate quant ity of oil needed to
rais e the level bet ween low and full on t he
dipst ick is i ndicat ed as follows:
1.1L(1.2qt.,1.0Imp.qt.)

When t he lev el reaches wi thin the c orrec t
range, install t he filler cap hand−tight.
