When stowing car go and luggage in the
vehic le, obser ve the followi ng:
D Put car go and l uggage in t he luggage
compart ment when at all pos sibl e. Be
sure all it ems are secur ed in place.
D Be careful to k eep the vehic le bal-
anced. Locati ng the weight as far for-
ward as poss ible helps maint ain bal-
ance.
D For better f uel economy, do not c arry
unneeded weight.
CAUTION
D To prevent cargo and l uggage f rom
sliding forward during braking, do
not st ack anythi ng in t he luggage
compartment higher than the seat-
backs. Keep cargo and l uggage low,
as close to the floor as possible.
D Never al low anyone to r ide i n the
luggage compar tment. It is not de-
signed f or passengers. They shoul d
ride in t heir seats wit h their seat
belts pr operly fastened. Ot herwise,
they are m uch mor e li kely t o suffer
death or serious bodily injury, in
the event of sudden braki ng or a
collision.
D Do not dri ve wit h obj ects left on
top of the i nstrument panel. They
may interfere with the driver’s field
of vi ew. Or t hey may move duri ng
sharp vehi cle accel erati on or t urn-
ing, and i mpair the dri ver ’s cont rol
of the vehicle. I n an accident t hey
may injure the vehicle occupants.
The vehicle identifi cation number (VI N)
is the legal ident ifi er for your vehicl e.
This number is stamped on the front
right fr ame as shown.
This is the primary identi ficat ion number
for your Toyota. It is us ed in regis teri ng
the ownershi p of your vehic le.
