8. Remove the crankcase and measure the
width “a” of the compressed Plastigauge
on each crankshaft journal. Replace the
crankshaft bearings if out of specification.
Crankshaft bearing selection
1. Check the crankcase journal size number
“a” on the crankcase.
If the crankcase journal sizes are the same at
all positions, the size number “a” is stamped
only at the “J1” position.

If “J1”–“J5” are the same:
2. Check the crankshaft journal size number
“a” on the crankshaft web.
3. Select the suitable color “a” for the crank-
shaft bearing from the table.
