PIPING JOINT ASSEMBLY
Assembly of Fasteners and Piping
PIPE THREAD JOINTS
Use the following information to add primer to the pipe
thread joints.
1. Primer recommended with dissimilar metals.
2. Use primer on both male and female components
of pipe threads 3 in. (25mm) and larger.
3. A small amount may be placed on the threads of
the male portion of the tting.
4. Use primer on both male and female components
of pipe threads 2 in. (25mm) and larger.
5. Loctite 554 is to be used on all pipe thread ttings
with the following exceptions: straight thread O-
ring ttings, and refrigerant level sensors.
6. Refrigerant level sensors require Loctite 565.
7. Care must be taken to not use excessive material,
which may result in unnecessary contamination of
the refrigeration system.
