Pairing Modes
Parameter # 542
When operating with the cradle, two modes of pairing are supported:
Locked Pairing Mode - When a cradle is paired (connected) to the linear imager scanner (or up to three
linear imager scanners for the CR0078-S and up to seven linear imager scanners for the CR0078-P in
Multipoint-to-Point mode), any attempt to connect a different linear imager scanner, by either scanning
the PAIR bar code on the cradle or by inserting it into the cradle with the pairing on contacts feature
enabled (page 4-24), is rejected. The currently connected linear imager scanner(s) maintain connection.
In this mode, you must set a Connection Maintenance Interval on page 4-25.
Unlocked Pairing Mode
With the CR0078-S cradle, unlocking works in Point-to-Point mode only. Pair (connect) a new linear
imager scanner to a cradle at any time by either scanning the PAIR bar code on the cradle or by
inserting it into the cradle with the pairing on contacts feature enabled. This unpairs the previous linear
imager scanner from the cradle.
With the CR0078-P cradle, unlocking works in both Point-to-Point and Multipoint-to-Point modes. Pair
(connect) a new linear imager scanner to a cradle at any time by either scanning the PAIR bar code
on the cradle or by inserting it into the cradle with the pairing on contacts feature enabled.
In Point-to-Point mode the previous linear imager scanner unpairs from the cradle.
In Multipoint-to-Point mode, when the eighth scanner tries to connect one of the scanners already
connected disconnects to make room.
To set the cradle pairing mode, scan the appropriate bar code below.
Lock Override
Lock Override overrides a locked linear imager scanner base pairing and connects a new linear imager
scanner. In Multipoint-to-Point mode, this unpairs any disconnected (out of range) linear imager scanner first,
in order to connect the new linear imager scanner.
