Network parameters
If you are not using DHCP in your network, you must configure the following network settings on the Cisco
Unified IP Conference Phone 8831 after installing the phone on the network:
•
IP address
•
IP subnet information
•
TFTP server IP address
•
You also may configure the domain name and the DNS server settings, if necessary.

Cisco Unified IP Conference Phone 8831 security features
Implementing security in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager system prevents identity theft of the
conference phone and Cisco Unified Communications Manager server and prevents data tampering.
To alleviate these threats, the Cisco IP telephony network establishes and maintains secure communication
streams between a phone and the server, digitally signs files before they are transferred to a phone, and encrypts
media streams and call signaling between Cisco Unified IP Phones.
The Cisco Unified IP Conference Phone 8831 uses the Phone Security profile, which defines whether the
device is nonsecure or encrypted. For information on applying the security profile to the conference phone,
