Vector Sensor Reference Manual 37
2.4 Environmental Considerations
The Vector Sensor and Antenna Array are designed to withstand the harsh outdoor environment,
however, there are specific environmental limits that you should ensure are met when storing and
using the Vector Sensor system.
The Vector Sensor, Vector Antenna Array, and MBL-3 are designed to be stored between -40°C
and +85°C. The operating temperature range is -30°C and +70°C.
The Vector Antenna Array and MBL-3 are designed for harsh outdoor use and will operate in an
environment with 100% relative humidity, condensing. The Vector Sensor is designed to operate
within a controlled environment with maximum 95% relative non-condensing humidity.
2.5 Power Considerations
The Vector Sensor is powered with an input voltage of between 8 and 40 VDC. For best
performance, the supplied power should be continuous and clean. Table 2-1 details the power
specifications of the Vector Sensor.
Table 2-1 Power Requirements
Input Voltage Input Current Input Power
8 to 40VDC <500 mA @ 12 VDC <6 W maximum
The Vector Sensor power supply features reverse polarity protection but will not operate with
reverse polarity power. Also, each of the RF connectors feature short circuit protection.
2.6 Electrical Isolation
The Vector Sensor features a power supply that is isolated from the metal enclosure and also from
the communication lines and the Antenna Array is isolated from the mounting structure using the
PVC mounting brackets. The MBL-3 is isolated electrically from its PVC enclosure and the RF
connection.
Caution - If you do require isolation, please ensure that when you’re securing the
Vector Sensor using it’s L-shaped mounting brackets that you there is no
electrical/metal connection to ship’s ground.
2.7 Vector Antenna Array Mounting
The Vector Antenna Array may be mounted with either a magnetic mount or pole mount
configuration. Both approaches use the 1-14-UNS-2B threaded mounts that secure the CDA-
RTK antennas to the mounting bracket. These brackets have been located beneath the mass
center of the CDA-RTK antennas in order to resist vibration modes.
Note - Since you may wish to increase the antenna separation beyond the standard
0.5 m length provided by the supplied bracket, you may pole-mount or rail-mount the
