Check for continuity between N ter-

ting terminals. If open circuit is found,
renew diode assembly. If length of
brushes is less than 10.5 mm (13/32
inch),
renew brushes.
When reassembling alternator, be
sure insulating washers are installed on
positive diode holder studs
(1
-Fig. 81).
Before reinstalling rotor, insert a wire
or plastic rod through hole in end frame
(Fig. 82) to hold brushes up. Be sure to
remove wire after rotor is installed.
