Sensivity Mode Tesng for Displacement Type Transducer
Displacement Test Setup
If the TUT is a non-contacng type (e.g. Eddy Current Probes) of dis- placement transducer, the probe
must be mounted in a bridge type x- ture (DI 223 [English] or DI 223-1 [Metric] and a special target ma-
terial must be secured to the shaker head (Reference Accelerome- ter). Typical Displacement Measure-
ment Systems include:
• Eddy Current Probe
• Extension Cable
• Oscillator/Demodulator
The TTS allows the displacement measurement systems to be checked dynamically by seng the shaker
vibraon to a known vibraon dis- placement and frequency measured by the built-in reference ac-
celerometer. The transducer system sensivity in mV/MIL P-P is read directly on the TTS display. The TTS
also has a DC Voltmeter mode which allows for seng inial probe gaps for tesng or for checking stac
linearity.
Step 1. Perform the sensivity setup procedures outlined above. When selecng the Transducer type
(Step 13) select DISPL.
Step 2. Press the down arrow to go to screen A. However, an interim screen appears. (See Fig. 5-9)
NOTE: The TTS is now in a DC Voltage measurement mode.
Step 3. Install the Eddy Current Probe Transducer System (DI-223 or DI-223-1). (See the Eddy Probe
Transducer System Manual for Instrucons) Contact your local METRIX Representave for purchase
informaon. METRIX Instruments provides two types of Mounng Fixture Kits as opons. The type of
xture determines the type of operaonal checks that can be performed using the TTS.
• Displacement Probe Mounng Fixture - 1 1/4” High (Prt. #0251-0011-01) - Allows measure-
ments to be made at preset probe gaps.
• Displacement Probe Mounng Fixture - 6 “High - Allows for both dynamic sensivity mea-
surements and stac linearity checks.
NOTE: All displacement measurements are made using a 4140 Steel Target Standard that aaches to
the reference accelerometer. This target is provided for both kits.
NOTE: Power for the Oscillator/Demodulator is supplied from an external source, separate from the
TTS.
