Before you use the advanced features, you should be familiar with
all of the VCR's basic operations, including viewing a picture
coming from your VCR (page 23), playing bazk a tape (page 25),
using the menus (page 29), and recording (page 38). If you find
any of the information in this section confl_sing, you may want to
review the previous chapters.

In this section, you'll discover some of the advanced playback
features of your VCR. These include:
Using special effects,
Adjusting the tracking, and
Using the time counter.
Usingspecialeffects
You can use the shuttle ring and the jog dial on the front panel, or
the shuttle ring and ADJUST dial on the remote to control the
playback speed of the tape.

Turning the shuttle ring will change the playback speed in steps.

While the VCR is playing a tape, press the PAUSE button to
freeze the picture on the ,;creen.
Turn the shuttle :ring and ihold it for the desired playback
speed (see the chart to the left). If you re] ease the ring, it will
come back to the center position, and the still (PAUSE) mode
will resume.
To resume normal playback, press the PI.AY button.
