CLUTCH ALIGNMENT / OFFSET - PS -
51607
NOTICE
Clutch Alignment Tool, part number PS-51607, can be
used to measure clutch alignment and offset on AXYS
long track (155" or longer) snowmobiles if the Clutch
Alignment Tool, part number PS-52666 or PS-47477, is
not available.
The drive and driven clutches are offset from each other.
This offset is controlled by the number and thickness of
washers installed on the jackshaft behind the driven
clutch.
The drive clutch (engine) is mounted in the bulkhead at a
slight angle when compared to the driven clutch
(jackshaft). When the driver applies throttle and the drive
clutch engages the belt, the drive clutch will self-align
with the driven clutch.
Both the clutch offset and alignment can be easily
inspected using the AXYS Clutch Alignment tool.
AXYS Clutch Alignment Tool:
PS-51607
The AXYS Clutch Alignment tool is designed with the
specified alignment angle and offset. When installed into
the drive clutch and placed on top of the driven clutch,
the technician can immediately determine if any
adjustments are required.
ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE
1. Open the left engine compartment door.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Install the alignment tool

into the drive clutch.
4. Align driven clutch with the alignment tool.
5. Once achieved, remove the driven clutch and add an
additional 16ga (.06") shim behind the driven clutch.
6. Install the drive clutch.
NOTICE
The alignment tool PS-51607 will now interfere with the
driven clutch.
Ensure clutch still floats.
