9. Install the recoil washer

11. Verify the recoil return spring tang fits in the hole in
the housing, while the other tang fits in the notch on
the ratchet.
12.Verify the recoil friction spring tang fits in the notch on
the ratchet.

specification.
NOTICE
Apply Loctite® 242™ to fastener prior to installation.
TORQUE
Recoil Friction Plate Fastener:
15 ft-lbs (20 N·m)
15.Pull rope out to its full extension and align pulley
notch with rope hole in housing.
16.Using a needle nose pliers or hooked wire, pull a loop
of rope through the notch in the reel.
17.Prevent the rope from being retracted by tying a knot
in the rope on the outside of the housing at the rope
guide hole.
18.Wind the recoil pulley counterclockwise until the
spring begins to bind. Unwind the pulley clockwise
two revolutions.
19.Pull on the rope to disengage it from the notch in the
pulley. Untie the knot in the rope and allow it to retract
into the housing.
