Chapter 2: Introduction
Cartridge Compatibility
Quantum LTO-9 HH SAS User’s Guide 15
By using the built-in data-compression capability of the tape drive,
greater data rates than the native data transfer rate can be achieved.
However, the actual throughput is a function of many components,
such as the host system processor, disk data rate, block size, data
compression ratio, SAS bus capabilities, and system or application
software.
Cartridge Compatibility
The LTO-9 uses the Quantum LTO Ultrium TB Data Cartridge and is
compatible with the cartridges of its predecessors, the Quantum
Ultrium Tape Drive Generation 8. The drive performs the following
functions:
Reads and writes Ultrium 9 cartridges to Ultrium 9 format, including
WORM and Data Encryption.
Reads and writes Ultrium 8 cartridges.
Does not read or write Ultrium 7 cartridges in M8 format
Does not read or write Ultrium 7, 6, 5, and 4 cartridges
