Check/Solution Page

Is the V-Piano Grand’s power cord properly plugged into a power outlet as well as connected to the V-Piano Grand? p. 18
Buttons don’t work
Could panel lock be active?
Disengage the panel lock.
p. 36
No sound
Is the volume turned all the way down? p. 19
Are sounds audible with headphones connected?
If sounds are audible through headphones, it may indicate that there is a short in an audio cable or some
sort of amp or mixer problem. Check the cables and equipment once again.
p. 21
Could headphones be connected?
Could headphones or a headphone plug adaptor have been left inserted in the Phones jack?
No sound will be produced from the speakers if headphones or an adaptor plug is inserted in the Phones
jack.
p. 21
Is the Local Switch set to OFF?
Set the Local Switch to ON.
p. 59
Could the volume have been lowered by pedal operations or by MIDI messages (volume messages and expression
messages) received from an external MIDI device or from song data?
Raise the Master Volume.
Try switching Tones.
p. 58
p. 29
Is Visual Control switched on?
If you set the Visual Control setting Local ON/OFF to the Local On setting, you’ll be able to play sounds from
the keyboard even if Visual Control is on.
p. 70
No sound from the connected MIDI
device
Does the V-Piano Grand’s MIDI transmit channel match the MIDI receive channel of the connected MIDI device?
Set the MIDI transmit channel.
p. 63
Tones are altered
Did you call up a Setup?
When a Setup is called up, the current Tone and other settings are disabled, and the selected Setup goes
into effect. Resave required settings to a Setup.
If you’re using a monaural connection, the tonal character may change depending on the Tone or the register.
In order to enjoy the V-Piano Grand’s sound to its fullest potential, we recommend a stereo connection.
If you’re using a monaural connection, set Line Out Mode to MONO.
p. 59
Sound is distorted Some equalizer settings may cause the sound to distort. Try adjusting the equalizer’s Input Gain. p. 33
Pitch is odd
Depending on the Tone selected, pitches played in certain registers will be changed and played at other pitches.
Have settings for Stretch Tune been made? p. 44
Has the V-Piano Grand gone out of tune? Check the following settings.

Temperament settings
p. 58
Have you set Transpose? p. 35

is too low.
Could you be using a connection cable that contains a resistor?
Use a connection cable that does not contain a resistor.
Even though you’re using
headphones and the sound is
muted, a thumping sound is heard
when you play the keyboard
The V-Piano Grand uses a hammer action keyboard in order to simulate an acoustic piano’s playing touch as
realistically as possible. The thump of the hammers will be heard when you play the keyboard; this is not a
malfunction.
If vibration transmitted to the floor or walls is a concern, you may be able to minimize the vibration by moving the
piano away from the wall, or by laying down a commercially available anti-vibration mat designed for use with
pianos.
Song data not played back
correctly
Is the audio data playable?
Make sure that the audio data can be played by the V-Piano Grand.
p. 55
Nothing appears in the screen
Since the V-Piano Grand uses a liquid crystal screen, it may happen that no text or graphics appear in the screen if
the temperature is below zero degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit).
Vertical lines appear in the screen/
Color is “washed out” at the edges
of the screen
These occur due to the nature of a liquid crystal display, and do not indicate a malfunction. They can be minimized
by adjusting the contrast of the screen.
p. 22
Pedal does not work, or is “stuck”/
Pedal does not operate correctly
Is the pedal connected correctly?
Plug the cord firmly into the Pedal connector.
