9-8 LOWER UNIT

• Before installing bearing, ensure that inside of
gearcase is clean and free of debris.
• Ensure that the bearing stamped mark faces upward.
1. Set shaft 1, plate 2, spacer 5, attachment 4 and pinion
bearing as shown in figure.
2. Place shaft 1 (with pinion bearing on end of shaft) into
gearcase.
3. Secure plate 2 by tightening bolts 3.
4. Thread sliding hammer 6 into top of shaft 1.
5. Drive pinion bearing down into position by gently striking
shaft 1 until dimension between undersurface of shaft 1
shoulder and top surface of plate 2 become 3 mm.
