Transfer under way
1 To change helm station with the levers in forward
position, press the STATION button (2) on the
active station. The pad lock (3) goes out on all helm
stations.
2 Activate the helm station that is to take control by
pressing the STATION button. The green LED will
light up and the N-LEDs (1) on the first station will
flash.
3 Move the levers on the control on the helm station
that have assumed control until they arrive at the
position of the levers on the first station. The station
will not be active until the levers are synchronized
with engine speed and gear.
4 If the levers do not correspond while the N-LEDs led
are flashing, the transfer will be interrupted and the
gear will move to neutral, the engine idles. Levers
must be in neutral position to gain control.
Cruising Speed
For best fuel economy, we recommend a cruising
speed that is at least 10% below the maximum engine
revolutions at top speed (full throttle).
Depending on hull type, the choice of propeller, the
load and sea state etc., the maximum revolutions at top
speed may vary, but they should be within the full
throttle range.
If the engine does not reach its maximum rpm at full
throttle, it can depend on several factors. See section
Fault handling, page 105 .
Select a propeller with greater pitch if actual engine
revolutions exceed the full throttle range. Contact your
Volvo Penta dealer for advice.
Triple installation
Since the center propulsion unit is installed in a tunnel,
a slight efficiency loss for engine 2 is to be expected at
cruising speed and wide open throttle.
At cruising speed, engine 2 will show slightly higher
fuel burn than engine 1 and 3. At wide open throttle
engine, 2 will run at a slightly lower rpm (40–80 rpm)
than engine 1 and 3.
