AIR FILTER
Carefully read page 39
(MAINTENANCE).
For instructions on air filter cleaning and
check, see page 40 (SCHEDULED
MAINTENANCE CHART).
If the vehicle is used on dusty or wet roads,
the cleaning or changing operations should
be carried out more frequently.
To clean the filtering element it is
necessary to remove it from the vehicle.
REMOVING
u Position the vehicle on the centre stand.
u Unscrew and remove the nine screws
(1).
u Remove the filter casing cover (2)
together with the filter (3).
u Check the filtering element (3) and
change it if required.
CLEANING
WARNING
Do not use petrol or inflammable
solvents to wash the filtering element,
in order to avoid fires or explosions.
Do not use additives or fluid detergents,
as this would lead to moisture build-up
inside the filter casing. Use compressed
air only.
u Blow the filtering element (3) with
compressed air.
CAUTION
NEVER SMEAR THE FILTERING
ELEMENT WITH OIL. Any oil seeping into
the belt casing would damage the belt and
cause it to slip.
