INSPECTING THE FRONT AND
REAR SUSPENSIONS
Carefully read page 39
(MAINTENANCE).
CAUTION
Have the front fork oil changed by an
aprilia Authorised dealer, for
guaranteed accurate, prompt service.
Have the front suspension fluid and fork oil
seals changed as specified in the
scheduled maintenance chart, see page
40 (SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
CHART), according to the displacement of
the vehicle.
Periodically check for the following:
u Keep the front brake lever pulled in and
push down on the handlebar repeatedly
to compress the front fork.
u The fork should compress in a smooth
movement and must show no traces of
oil on the legs.
u Ensure that all components are properly
tightened and check the front and rear
suspension articulated joints for correct
operation.
CAUTION
In the event of malfunction or if the
suspension needs expert servicing,
contact an aprilia Authorised dealer.
ADJUSTING THE REAR
SUSPENSION
The rear suspension consists of a double
effect shock absorber (compression/rebound
damping) fixed to the engine by means of a
silentblock.
The standard adjustment, set by the
manufacturer, is suitable for a rider weighing
about 70 kg. If your weight and needs are
different, adjust the ring nut (1), thus setting
the ideal travelling conditions (see table).
