7.4 Installing theaxial piston unit
DANGER
Risk of explosion and/or fire due to ignition of an explosive atmosphere or of
combustible dust due to sparks caused by electrostatic discharge!
Installing the axial piston unit on an electrically non-conductive base plate or port
plate may cause explosions due to electrostatic discharge that may result in serious
injury or even death.
▶ Install the axial piston unit on an electrically conductive base plate or port plate.
▶ Include the base plate and port plate in the potential equalization connection.
▶ Ground hydraulic hoses separately.
▶ The A4VSO ATEX features a ground connection. This generally has to be
included in the potential equalization to prevent a buildup of electrostatic
charge.
▶ Also take care to remove dust in a timely manner in order to reduce the risk of
ignition.

The use of components with different material characteristics (material pairing)
and different ignition properties may cause to explosions due to electrostatic
discharge that may result in serious injury or even death.
▶ Check whether the explosion protection marks on the name plates of the
axialpiston unit match the information in this instruction manual.
▶ Check whether the explosion protection class and temperature class correspond
to the zone classification in the explosion protection document of the system.
▶ Also take care to remove dust in a timely manner in order to reduce the risk of
ignition.
7.4.1 Preparation
1. Check the specifications on the name plate of the axial piston unit to see if the
correct type of variable pump is present.
2. Compare the material number and designation (type code), required
ATEXcategory and related zone with the details in the order confirmation.
If the material number for the axial piston unit does not match the one in the
order confirmation, contact BoschRexrothService for assistance;
