11 Removal and replacement
DANGER
Risk of explosion and/or fire due to ignition of an explosive atmosphere or of
combustible dust!
Serious injury caused by blast pressure and fire may result.
▶ Only remove or replace the unit in a non-explosive atmosphere.
▶ The system operator is responsible for ensuring the appropriate ambient
conditions.
11.1 Required tools
Removal can beperformed using standard tools. No special tools are necessary.
11.2 Preparing for removal
1. Decommission theentire system asdescribed inthe instruction manual for
themachine orsystem.
–Relieve pressure inthe hydraulic system according tothe instructions
ofthemachine orsystem manufacturer.
–Make sure therelevant system components are depressurized and de-energized.
2. Secure theentire system against being re-energized.
11.3 Performing thedisassembly
Proceed asfollows toremove theaxial piston unit:
1. Verify that the hydraulic system is depressurized.
2. Allow theaxial piston unit tocool down until itcan beremoved without danger.
3. For below-reservoir installation, seal the connection to the reservoir or drain the
reservoir before removing the axial piston unit from the overall system.
4. Place adrip tray under theaxial piston unit tocollect any hydraulic fluid that
mayleak.
5. Disconnect thelines and collect theescaping hydraulic fluid inthe drip tray.
6. Remove theaxial piston unit. Use asuitable lifting device.
7. Completely drain theaxial piston unit.
8. Plug all openings.
